Royal Birkdale #6 of the 2008 British Open is Tough Test Even For The Best
Las Vegas, NV - 7/17/2008 - If you’ve been watching the 2008 British Open, you know the hardest hole on the course today was the par-4 6th hole. The weather was certainly a factor in this 499-yard hole seeing almost as many double bogeys as pars and with an international audience #6 may well have created some fans of its own. Of course if you can’t get to England and want to play a hole inspired by #6 at Royal Birkdale, and avoid the rain and blistery wind, you can get that experience in Las Vegas at the Royal Links Golf Club.
Royal Links offers 18 of the best holes from 11 different Open rotation courses, including two from Royal Birkdale:
Royal Birkdale #6, represented by Royal Links’ #12 is the longest Par-4 at The Royal Links. Two fairway bunkers keep players honest by requiring tee shots to be both accurate and long. A sharp dogleg right and two bunkers protecting the green make the approach tricky.
Royal Birkdale #10, represented by Royal Links #6 has a sharp dogleg left that puts emphasis on hitting a good tee shot. Players will want to favor the left side since the fairway slopes left to right with a bunker guarding the right side approximately 260 yards out. However anything that holds too far left of center will make the approach difficult to the well-protected green.
Additionally at Royal Links, which is less than 9 miles from the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, golfers can experience the likes of the “Road Hole” and “Hell Bunker” from the Old Course as St. Andrews or the “Postage Stamp” from Royal Troon site of the Senior Open in a couple of week.
And with holes inspired by 11 different courses, you can have the insight each year when you watch the Open on your own tele and the luxury of playing from an appropriate set of tees for your game. Royal Links is owned by Walters Golf who also features the Bali Hai and Desert Pines Golf Clubs in Las Vegas.
